Thomas Day House

Thomas Day was a free Black furniture craftsman and cabinetmaker in Milton in Caswell County. He moved to Milton in 1817 and became a highly successful businessman, boasting the largest and most productive workshop in the state during the 1850s.

Thomas Day/Union Tavern Restoration, Inc. operates the museum. which is where Thomas Day lived and worked. The museum houses Day furniture and architectural elements.

Flying Disc Clubhouse

A disc golf course, taproom, bottle shop, and a pro shop all in one unique historic location?! Well, of course it’s Flying Disc Clubhouse!

The Disc Golf Cabin Course was designed to be fun and challenging for all skill levels, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned disc golfer. The layout has a balance of hyzer and anhyzer shots with fun elevation challenges, raised baskets, and water hazards.

So, come by, play a round, grab a beer and enjoy all that Flying Disc has to offer!

Animal Park at the Conservator’s Center

Come reconnect with wildlife and visit over 20 species of animals wildly up close.

A tour of of the Conservator’s Center covers a three-quarter-mile path with an experienced tour guide to learn about each of the animals—and each species’ ecological importance.

The Animal Park at the Conservators Center is open Saturday and Sunday each week for Public Tours, Private Tours, and seasonal events!  Group Tours for social groups, college clubs, and scout troops are also available during the week, as well as weekday Wild Field Trips for school programs.

 

Dentzel Menagerie Carousel

Come for a visit and get front row seat ride in a piece of Burlington’s history!

The Burlington City Park Carousel is a 3-Row Dentzel Menagerie Carousel built around 1906-1910 at the Dentzel Carousel Company on Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The Carousel was purchased by the City of Burlington in the summer of 1948 from Mr. Carl Utoff.

In 2019, this piece of art in motion was due for complete refurbishment and restoration of both its artistic and mechanical elements; including, restoration and repainting of the menagerie of carousel animals, repairing and fabricating new mechanisms, upgrading the drive unit, and adding an ADA-accessible chariot and ramp. In addition to the carousel restoration, a new house for the Carousel was constructed.  The new Carousel House is open-air in the warmer months and enclosed by glass during cold weather allowing the Carousel to operate year-round.

Haw River Trail

The Haw River Trail is part of the state-wide Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) which allows hikers to travel across the state from Clingman’s Dome to Jockey’s Ridge. With approximately 40 miles of paddle trails and 20 miles of land trails available, the Haw River Trail provides public access to Alamance County’s most important natural feature.

Built on the idea of conservation through recreation, the land and paddle trails allow the community to explore and appreciate its river while helping to conserve and protect this important resource.

Both the land and paddles trails offer beautiful views of the river and its plants and wildlife, as well as opportunities to hike, walk, paddle, picnic, and fish along the river. Combining with the Mountains-to-Sea Trail will allow hikers from across the country to share in the beauty of the Haw River corridor.

Congdon Yards

Downtown High Point just welcomed its newest attractor where people can come to innovate, celebrate, congregate, and instigate new ideas and collaboration.

American Home Furnishings Hall Of Fame

This powerful space will allow industry friends, family and colleagues a place to connect, honor, and discover while preserving the past and inspiring future generations.

Visitors can explore the world of home fashion and design through the Discovery Center. Interactive areas will challenge and entertain adults and children with hands-on demonstrations, workshops and experiential learning activities and special events.

A highlight of the Hall of Fame is the world-class video documenting the genesis of the $150 billion industry and highlighting the great men and women who built it. As told through the eyes of the greatest contributors and industry leaders, it will share the inside stories of enduring excellence, innovation, creativity, and superior accomplishments.

Nido & Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum

This 58,000-square-foot museum is a playground for the imagination and learning for the young, and the young at heart!

Two floors are packed with 20 exciting exhibits. Kids can scale a giant climber, explore Mars, experiment in the city’s first STEAM lab (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math), learn about physics in Water Play while splashing around, run through the obstacle course in the Fit Lab, and so much more!

The Nido & Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum provides a place of wonder, discovery, and inspiration for all children. Families will be able to enjoy a 40-foot-tall double-decker carousel where they can all take a ride together among chariots, fantasy horses, dolphins, alligators, seahorses, and other whimsical wildlife.
