The Andy Griffith Museum

The Andy Griffith Museum is a place both for learning about, and celebrating Andy Griffith, who was born in Mount Airy in 1926.

Home of the single largest collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to Andy Griffith, the museum features hundreds of items from Andy’s life and his career in theater, film, and music. Highlights of the collection include actual props, wardrobe, and other artifacts from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock that were donated by Cindi and Andy Griffith, members of the casts and crews, and other individuals and organizations.

When planning a visit to the museum, make sure to note when the event, Mayberry Days®, are taking place, and be sure to make a stop at the Museum gift shop and Museum gardens.

Mendenhall Homeplace

Mendenhall Homeplace represents the legacy of a small community of Quaker tradespeople and farmers who actively opposed slavery, promoted universal education, and labored to create a life of peace and simplicity amid troubled times.

Mendenhall Homeplace is also home to one of our nation’s most significant Underground Railroad artifacts – the Stanley-Murrow False-Bottom Wagon, which was used to help dozens of enslaved people escape north to freedom in the years leading up to the Civil War.

Brown Truck Brewery

One of High Point’s first breweries, Brown Truck is serving up awarding winning beer and great vibes.

Founded by Britt Lytle and John Vaughan, Brown Truck Brewery is named after Lytle’s car- a 1986 Ford F-150. They opened Brown Truck to be place where people were comfortable and inviting, for beer connoisseurs, or for someone who just needed wanted to relax on the patio.

Gia Distillery & Nonno Nino Winery

Gia Distillery, Inc. is a small boutique distillery located in a train station built in 1895 in the small town of Madison, NC.

One of the owners grew up in Sicily and the other comes from Asheville, NC.  Both have been making wine and beer for the last 40 years and have parlayed that experience now into distilling where they are now able to add their hand-crafted touch.

Everything from crushing the grapes/grain, fermentation, distilling and bottling is done by hand, with no automated systems.  This extra work and effort shine through with an exceptional set of products that offer quality and perfection.

Greensboro Science Center

Get ready to go wild at the Greensboro Science Center!

Founded in 1957, The Greensboro  Science Center is the only facility in North Carolina to feature an accredited aquarium, museum, and zoo all in one destination. The Greensboro Science Center prides itself on hands-on educational and entertaining experiences.

Attractions at the Center include: the Animal Discovery Zoological Park where visitors can see red pandas, Sumatran tigers, pygmy hippos, maned wolves, and many more, the OmniSphere Theater, the Wiseman Aquarium, the Rotary Club of Greensboro Carousel, and the Museum and exhibits showcasing,  Prehistoric Passages: Realm of Dragons, SciPlay Bay, Time Warner Cable’s Extreme Weather Gallery, and touch labs.

Conrad & Hinkle

In business since 1919, Conrad & Hinkle is an old-fashioned grocery that provides hand cut meats to order in the meat department, fresh local fruits and vegetables, and homemade delicacies like pimento cheese and chicken salad. And just like in days gone by – they still make some home deliveries! Conrad and Hinkle and has remained in the same location since it first opened its doors.

Conrad & Hinkle stock produce, meats and even make many great items right in the store. They are most known for their homemade pimento cheese and chicken salad.

Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library

With more than 5,000 furniture and design-specific volumes, The Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library is the largest furniture specialty library in the world.

The rare book collection contains volumes published since 1543 and includes a collection of the original works of 18th-century furniture masters Chippendale, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite, as well as a complete 26-volume set of Diderot’s Encyclopedia published in 1776.

This is one of the few, if not the only place in the world where design professionals, scholars, students, and the public can don a pair of white gloves and examine the original works of the pioneer designers in our industry.

Bull City Ciderworks

The cidery has 16 cider taps and a selection of canned NC craft beer. Board games, cornhole, live music, community events and HD televisions. Children and friendly dogs are welcome. Feel free to bring your own eats.
